What to Expect from Archery York?
Archery at Yorkshire Outdoor Activity Park is a fantastic choice for beginners, families, friends, and large groups. In this session, you will participate in exciting activities in our purpose-built archery range. After firing arrows and hitting a few bullseyes, we will turn things up a notch with various thrilling archery games and competitions where you can unleash your inner archer!
What is Included in the Archery Package?
The £25 per participant includes entry to Yorkshire Outdoor Activity Park and all equipment needed to play the game, including:
- Professional Archery Bow
- Arrows
Arrival Time
You should arrive at least 15 – 30 minutes early. This way, we can start at the right time. At the beginning of the event, there will be a short safety briefing that every participant must attend. Being on time ensures that you will get the full hour of archery.

Q. Is Archery safe? A.. Safety is our number one priority. Your instructor will guide you in proper shooting technique, and the purpose-built archery range is designed to maximise safety. All instructors at the Yorkshire Outdoor Activity Park are trained and qualified by Archery GB.
Q. What are the age restrictions? A. The minimum age is eight years old. There is no upper age limit because Archery is not a particularly strenuous sport.
Q. Are spectators welcome? A. Yes. The archery range has lots of seating and viewing space to watch.
Q. What shall I wear? A. Comfortable clothing is recommended for Archery. Closed-toed shoes are required.

Eight tips to get you hitting the target more often.
- Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and perpendicular to the target.
- Keep your body relaxed and your shoulders down.
- Use your non-dominant hand to hold the bow and your dominant hand to pull the string.
- Place the arrow on the arrow rest and ensure it is correctly nocked onto the bowstring.
- Draw the string back smoothly and steadily, keeping your elbow high and your wrist straight.
- Anchor the string at the corner of your mouth or under your chin, depending on your preferred method.
- Aim at the target by aligning the bowstring with your dominant eye and the target.
- Release the string smoothly and follow through with your shot by keeping your aim on the target after the arrow has been released.
Target Archery York
Target archery is a type of archery that involves shooting arrows at a stationary target from a fixed distance. In target archery, the archer typically shoots a set number of arrows at a series of targets, each with a different set of scoring rings. The closer the arrow lands to the centre of the target, the higher the score. At the Yorkshire Outdoor Activity Park, our archery events are target archery.
