Why We Like This Laptop (Reviewed by the YPC Team)
At YPC Outdoors, we like the Lenovo LOQ 15 because it delivers a sensible balance between performance, cooling and price. The Intel Core i5 HX series processor gives it real processing headroom, while the RTX 2050 handles esports titles and modern games at sensible settings.
We are also impressed by the thermal design. The hyperchamber cooling keeps performance consistent without excessive fan noise, which makes a real difference in long gaming or study sessions. It feels like a laptop designed to be used hard, not just benchmarked.

Performance and Real World Use
The Intel Core i5 12450HX is a high performance mobile processor designed for sustained workloads. In real world use, it handles gaming, multitasking, development tools and creative software with confidence.
The RTX 2050 graphics card is best suited to Full HD gaming at medium to high settings, depending on the title. Esports games run particularly well, and DLSS support helps boost performance in supported games.
Display, Design and Visual Experience
The 15.6 inch Full HD display runs at 144Hz, delivering smooth motion and reduced blur in fast paced games. With narrow bezels on three sides and 300 nits of brightness, it offers an immersive experience for both gaming and streaming.
The Luna Grey finish keeps the design clean and understated, making it suitable for school or work environments as well as gaming setups. At around 4 percent slimmer than the previous generation, it is easier to carry than many traditional gaming laptops.
Cooling, AI Features and Build Quality
Lenovo LOQ uses a hyperchamber thermal system with dual outward spinning fans that efficiently expel heat from the rear. In Extreme Mode, the sealed chamber allows additional power headroom while keeping surface temperatures under control.
Lenovo AI Engine Plus works alongside the LA1 AI chip to dynamically balance performance, thermals and noise when Balance Mode is enabled in Lenovo Vantage. This makes the laptop easier to live with for users who do not want to constantly tweak settings.
Alternatives Worth Considering
If you are comparing gaming laptops in this category, consider:
Acer Nitro 5 RTX 3050 for stronger GPU performance
MSI Cyborg 15 for a lighter gaming focused design
ASUS TUF F15 for a more rugged chassis
Each option trades size, cooling and graphics power slightly differently.
Comparisons With Similar Laptops
Compared to GTX based laptops, the RTX 2050 offers better efficiency and access to DLSS features.
Against RTX 3050 systems, the LOQ 15 is slightly less powerful graphically, but often quieter and more affordable, making it a sensible entry point into dedicated GPU gaming.
Tips on Using This Laptop Correctly
Use Balance Mode for everyday tasks and Extreme Mode for gaming
Keep rear vents clear to maintain cooling efficiency
Update GPU drivers regularly for best game performance
Use a headset for immersive gaming audio
Consider an external monitor for desk based gaming setups
