Novritsch at Proving Grounds – A Standout Day for the UK Airsoft Community

This month’s Proving Grounds event was one to remember. Yorkshire Outdoor Activity Park welcomed more than 300 players for a packed day of rolling airsoft gameplay, hosted in partnership with Patrol Base, and featuring a special guest: Chris Novritsch.

From the moment the gates opened at 7am, players were arriving with their kit, catching up with familiar faces, and getting ready for six hours of objectives, firefights and fast turnarounds. By 10am, the first whistle went, and the field came alive.

A Full Site in Action

Proving Grounds is already known for offering some of the most varied terrain and objectives in the UK, but seeing it played this hard, with this many players, felt special.

Teams fought across:

  • the World’s Largest Airsoft/Paintball Bridge
  • the Bunker Complex
  • the woodland flanks
  • the real downed aeroplane

The combination of fast changes, shifting objectives and mixed terrain meant every style of play had its moment, from snipers on the bridge to tight pushes through the bunker.
As always, all replicas were chrono tested to ensure safe and fair gameplay throughout the event.

Meeting Novritsch

One of the highlights for many players was meeting Chris Novritsch in person. Throughout the day he moved between squads, chatted with players, took photos and joined skirmishes across multiple objectives.

A fun challenge was added too: any player who managed to tag Chris during gameplay earned a limited rubber patch made especially for the event.

At the end of the day, Chris was presented with a Union Jack flag signed by every participant, a simple but meaningful thank-you from the community.

A Brilliant Day for the Airsoft Scene

By the time the final whistle blew at 4pm, the safe zone was full of stories, close calls, highlight moments and plans for the next game.

Events like this work because of the players: the teamwork, the honesty, the atmosphere, and the respect shown throughout the day.
It felt like a celebration of everything that makes airsoft such a strong community.
