What to Compare Before Buying
- Mount compatibility: Check that your camera uses Canon EF or EF-S, Nikon F or Sony E mount and that the included adapter matches the body you plan to use.
- Focal range: The 420-800mm range is the key reason to choose this lens, so compare it with the distance and subject size you want to photograph.
- Manual focus: This is a manual focus lens, so check that you are happy working without autofocus.
- Filter size: If you already own filters, confirm that 62mm is the size you need.
What Else You May Need
You may need to adjust your camera settings for use with a manual lens, including allowing the camera to release the shutter without a lens where that setting is required by the camera body.
Before You Decide
Confirm the mount for your camera, the manual focus format, and the included T-Mount adapter before choosing an offer. Also check that the 62mm filter size and the 420-800mm zoom range suit the way you plan to shoot.
Planning a Long-Range Shoot
This lens suits a simple planning approach: choose a distant subject, confirm your camera mount, and make sure your support, settings and filter size match the way you want to work. The long focal range is the main feature to compare, especially if you are looking at wildlife, moon or other distant subjects.
