Quick Summary
The Tamron AFF017N700 SP 90mm F/2.8 Di VC USD 1:1 Macro lens is a dedicated macro prime lens for Nikon DSLR cameras. It is designed for true life size reproduction and mounts directly to Nikon F mount cameras, with compatibility for both Nikon FX and Nikon DX formats. It suits close up photography where fine detail matters, while also working as a short telephoto lens for portraits.
Who It Is Best For
This lens is a strong choice for photographers who want close focusing for insects, flowers, textures, jewellery, products, and artwork. It also suits users who want one lens that can handle macro work as well as portrait and general short telephoto shooting.
What To Know Before You Buy
Macro photography rewards careful focusing and a steady hand, especially at very close distances. The 90 mm focal length gives useful working distance for close up subjects and lighting, and vibration compensation can help reduce blur when shooting handheld.
Pros: True 1:1 macro reproduction, vibration compensation for handheld use, and a circular aperture for smoother background blur.
Cons: Macro work needs patience and careful technique, and depth of field becomes very shallow at close distances.
If you are unsure about fit, check that your camera uses the Nikon F mount and that the selected variation is the one you need before ordering.
