Quick Summary
The Canon RF 85mm F2 Macro IS STM is a telephoto prime lens for Canon EOS R series mirrorless cameras. It combines an 85mm portrait focal length with macro capability, optical image stabilisation, and smooth STM autofocus, making it a flexible option for portraits, close ups, and everyday detail work.
Who It Is Best For
This lens suits Canon EOS R users who want one lens that can handle people shots and close detail without changing lenses. It is a practical choice for photographers who value a flattering portrait look, handheld use, and quiet autofocus for stills or video.
What To Know Before You Buy
The bright f2 aperture helps with low light shooting and background blur, while the stabilisation supports handheld work. It is described as a versatile lens rather than a dedicated specialist optic, so buyers wanting maximum subject separation or a higher end macro option may want to compare alternatives.
Pros: Flattering 85mm perspective, optical image stabilisation, macro capability, and smooth STM autofocus in one lens.
Cons: Buyers seeking the fastest portrait aperture or a dedicated macro lens may want something more specialised.
